Question for any GM/Vette techs on here
My local dealer replaced the grease boot on a rear half shaft last week. Within 4 days, the shaft sheared off. Are there any steps, in the r/r process, not done properly, that could have caused that failure? I don't think I would get a honest answer, from the dealer, to this question. This is a new car with 1700 miles on it. The failure happened under normal acceleration, not WOT. My concern is if they screwed it up last time, will that happen again. Thanks...

To install a new boot the cv joint has to be taken off the main shaft, I have never seen a shaft shear, maybe the reason the boot was leaking was due to a problem with the joint that was in the process of failing? The good news is that the new shaft will come complete, joints, boots, shafts ect...

At least you should be covered under warranty for this. Haven't heard of this happening before. Good luck getting this fixed.
