Default **new Member,need Advice**

hello everyone..i've finally decided 2 join the forum (long overdue) after a few months of looking around and reading posts.i purchased a brand new CE coupe earlier this year and have since racked up about 11k miles.. recently i had the magnaflows installed and the cats were removed and replaced by straight pipes.2 days after the procedure the check engine light appeared...i've since realized that whatever the actual problem may be(emissions sensor?) is incurable by just resetting the codes as the light just reappears after a day or so.2day i called a reputable vette vendor in my area and i was told the computer needs 2 be re-programmed and "it wont run right until this is done"..the car seemingly runs great so i guess he was making reference 2 the computer not accepting the mod until it's reprogrammed..he also advised me not 2 put 2 many miles on it in the mean time...is this information true and accurate? could it be detrimental 2 the car 2 continue driving it? is this an issue that needs dire attention?? please help...thanks

Well to start off, welcome to the forum-as for your question,I do not know much about the removing of cats but if someone more experianced told me to not drive it very much until I had her reprogramed I would listen to him,it's not worth taking a chance of screwing up you car(IMHO)good luck.

You're gonna have a problem unless the computer thinks you have all the emissions gear in place. Welcome to the Forum!

Or you could be smart and put the cats back on the car.

They don't hurt your performance, they keep the air clean and in most states it's the law.

I know...call me crazy...but that's what I would do.
