Lots of prep is the Key, I found that out after I'd already painted 2 pieces and had to start over . First I sand with 220 grit, then primer heavy. Sand primer with 320 then 600-800 until you are happy. Make sure you wash of the dust before you paint Then a light coat of clear. Make sure that you use gloves so that the oils from your skin dont get on the surface(makes fish eyes in paint)

nope, Dupli-Color T191 Ultra Silver Mcc. It's a GM color but I'm not paying $8 for a 6 oz can of GM paint, The Dupil-colr is $4 for a 12 oz can!

When I read your title, I thought "oh, no".. but I have to say it looks great!

How close is the match to the Sebring Silver?

There is primer formulated especially for bonding to plastics. It will eliminate the need for sanding as well as heavy coats of a conventional primer, although some folks may want to use a conventional primer as a second prep step, followed by #400 to achieve as smooth a surface as possible before color paining.

Multiple heavy coats of paint can backfire later on by cracking, be prone to easy chipping and seperating in chunks from the surface. So it is best to be conservative. Items will still have to be prepped with a good wax/grease removing solvent, and most folks will probably want to trim any of the rough flashing generally found on any molded plastic, to give a better final appearance. Something to consider.
