Default What octane level?

My 2002 knocks slightly under WOT using 91 octane gas. What octane level is needed to completely stop the knocking? I have found a station that sells 92 octane but I have not tried it yet.

Add Toulene... Not sure of the link, but it'll raise your octane level uite a bit. You can get it cheap at any paint supply store.

The car shouldn't knock with 91 octane. The knock sensors should adjust the timing for the octane fuel used. Something else may be wrong.

that is nonsense.

many parts of the country do not sell above 91.

your owners manual clearly states that 91 and above is recommended for best performance and 87 can cause knocking.

your engine adjusts the timing if you have **** gas so maybe you have another problem.

as a doctor would say: "run some new fuel through there from a differnt mfg and call us next week".

91 should work fine. I track the car with 91 here in CA (the great state won't let you use anything higher), never had knock with it or with my '00 coupe. I'd check on some other problem.
