Z06 that has been made into a convertable? Saw one today at Gene's Kar Shop in Lakeland, FL. Real Z06 that was made into a convertable. Very looking - if I can figure out how to add a pic to this thread, I'll share my pics with you.

ARRIVE ALIVE!
And let me guess....Gene is offering a really fair price on a used Z06 top too, right?
Since I can not figure out an easy way to add a pic - I made the pic I took of it today as my signature. Great looking ride - done right! At first glance you think it is a clone until you look closer and run the numbers!
I saw a med purple metallic vert with all the Z06 items (even the badges and gauge cluster), at a car show.
When I first saw it, I immediately dismissed it as a nice 98 vert and thought the owner took the Z-poseur thing a little too far with the badges,etc..
I later learned the car was indeed a 2002 Z06, that it was converted to a vert and then painted purple. Made it seem pretty , but also a very expensive way to achieve it.
I've seen one other authentic Z06-turned vert since then.

Somewhile back, there was a CF member here who posted pics and discussed how he converted his '03 AE vert in to a FRC (non-Z06). That was interesting too.
I haven't seen one up close yet, but have read about and seen pics of some high quality Z06 Vert mods. JMHO, you haven't really lived until you've owned at least one Vette convertible....or Harley! Just gotta feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair!!
Just use the Insert image button below the "Size" box in the reply to menu (it's the little yellow one.) The just press it once you'll get [IMG] to appear. Then just paste your photo's information then press the button again and it will close the IMG brackets with this {/IMG]. replace the { with [. Use this one for reference. Just right click the photo, select properties and copy the information in the address field
[IMG]http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/c5statetrooper//z06convert.jpg{/IMG]---> again remember to replace the { with a [.
This way you can get it out of your sig....which will appear in every post you've ever made..

Roger's Corvettes in Florida had one for sale a couple of years ago that according to them was a real Z06 that was made into a convertible. Apparently the car was sold - and I have no idea what happened to it.

If it's a real Z06, why'd he make it into a convertible? Damn, if that's ok by you, why not the wheels?
I like those wheels. To each his own.
Well, because the Z06 is a better car than the convertible. And, even if you modify the convertible, you still won't get all the Z06 good stuff, like the steering for example, which only comes with a true Z06.
I know, because I looked into it seriously. Not worth the trouble to go that direction.
