Do I look bad without a bra?
But I've noticed that on the front, there's hundreds of little tiny specs of white from dirt and dust flying up and hitting the nose. Not much wax can do for that.
So other than a repaint and a bra, what can I do to fix it and to preserve it? Any ideas?

Sorry, couldn't resist... read your post and thought about Eddie Murphy... lol.
Seriously, has anyone put the 3M 14mil plastic on the front of their bumper?
Jack, there's a company in town that uses a computer to cut out the design of whatever car they enter into the computer and it'll die-cut a clear plastic bra actually made to fit on the front of most cars. I've had him come to my shop to do several.... just never a C5.
Just wondering if anyone has tried this.

Where do you live, Mark?

It depends, you don't have any history of stalking or mental illness, do you?
Charlotte, NC.
BTW, I clicked on that stone guard link, I guess it's the same thing that I was talking about.... seemed kinda pricey for the whole kit. I think I'm going to the local guy and see if he can do just the rockers behind the tires..

That sounds more like a PENTHOUSE Forum letter then tips on car care. Keep up the good work......

After the repaint of the bumper (about the only thing you can do), get the best bra in the business:
http://www.armorglove.com/
I've done the research on all the clear films, and I'm on my second one with this company (don't ask about the construction truck last month that decided to dump the sand and gravel in front of me during rush hour) -- the bra worked really well, but the rest of the GM paint -- and windshield -- didn't. For what it's worth, there wasn't a nick in any of the paint that was covered by the bra.
Here's a shot with the bra on:

I would strongly recommend against a fabric bra, because you will still get grit underneath, and it will still scratch and damage the finish over the long term.
The clear bra is a terrific alternative, no one notices it (even the Corvette "professionals" at car shows -- they just think it's the factory paint job).
I had the first one for three years, and just had the second one put on yesterday. Even they are not all alike -- some films, like the 3M stuff, will yellow more than others. That's why I stuck with ArmorGlove -- it doesn't yellow or loose it's translucency over time.
Also, the clear bra is a perfect fit, no flapping in the wind, no matter how fast you drive (Porsche uses it on their race cars, which get a ton of abuse every weekend and in the 24 hour races, they always look new), and they have a complete set of custom templates to cover everything from the bumper, to hood, even to the mirrors.
Worth a shot. Beats a $700 bumper repaint job -- be sure they match the factory orange peel.
Then get that bra on before you go out again -- trust me you -- you look better with one on.

Ah America. Where else can a young black boy aspire to grow up and be a rich white woman?

Good Luck!
