Default Weird things salesmen say

Love to hear the BS out of some carsalesmens mouths. I recently looked at a 2001 coupe with a friend We opened the hood to inspect the engine and it was filthy covered in oil and grease, the salesman immediatly said "It is like that because corvettes can not be cleaned under the hood they dont like water all vettes are like that" looked like an oil leak problem to me ,We left laughing

They all sound the same to me too! "BS degree required" has a different meaning in their field.

Some have the same posture as well ...

Salesmans creedo: "It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt".

I left engineering and did car sales for about 5 months at a Ford dealer. (I know, I'm sorry. But that's where I got my Vette.) I would laugh and cringe at some of the things I would hear other salesmen say. It's amazing how some people just pull facts out of their butts and try and talk like they know what they're doing. I wish I could think of some of them off the top of my head, but I've been drinkin'. I didn't last long in sales because I was "too smart and too nice" according to them. So now I'm the lot attendant driving his new Vette. Hehe.

Lot attendant? Isn't that just another name for a Lot Porter

Give the guy a break, he was trying to make the best of a bad situation. It was wrong of him to say that Vetts can't get there engine washed. He should of just told the Truth and blamed it on the clean up deparment, where the blame should fall on. Bottom line, he was trying to make a living like everyone on this forum

You know, I trust car sales people about as much as I would trust J. Kerry as president. They talk about the same.

Funniest I've heard was when I was standing on the side of a new C5 and a salesman and a young customer were standing at the back talking:
Cust: Where is the spare?
Sman: (Leaning over looking) It's underneath like all cars these days.

I couldn't let that pass, but the salesman didn't seem pleased to learn the truth...

That's BS... I have been selling high end computer systems for 15 years.. To just make something up like that is just plain STUPID. Most car salesman SUCK so bad at what they do they give the profession a bad name..

I want to make a deal with my local Chevy Dealer. Just give me an office to work in on a Saturday and I bet I sell more cars than his retards can sell in a week..

They have WHAT?? like 10 models to keep in their head? I have 1000's of different computer components to keep up with and they get obsoleted every 6 months...

Just read one car magazine a day and you are like 100 times better informed than a typical car salesman..

I have bought at least 6 or 7 new cars in the past 20 years.. EVERY sales guy knew less than I did about that vehicle

A lady friend ask me to go with her to look at Lexus SC430. I was showing her the car on the showroom floor with a salesman lurking about. He never intervened and as we were leaving, he said that he was enjoying our conversation because I knew more about the car than he did and he was glad to be learning about the car that he was selling. All I did was browse the brochure before I took the lady to the dealship. How hard can it be?

I suppose you trust Bush and Cheney's belief and comments that the war in Iraq is smashing success... or words to that effect...

Say what you will about car salesman. The car business has been bringing in over 185k a year into my home for quite a few years now. The more you trash people the smaller you look. One thing you don't obviously get through your thick pathetic skull is that "We are people to." Oh yeah, your also bashing a fellow CF members way of life.

#1 reason I hate walking into a car dealership- Im 18, I dress decently but not suit and tie, if I drive up, 1 guy will come out and talk to me. I brought my parents out to look at the C6 they had on the lot (after being there earlier on my own) and they got SWAMPED.
#1 reason parents hated walking into the dealership- they got swamped. And "just taking a look at the new vette" doesn't do anything. 4 different sales guys handed them off to each other and all ignored what they said. parents straight out told me if I buy a car from a dealership before im 30 to bring them with me when I go so they can laugh at the salesguys ignoring the person who is buying a car.

It sounds to me like you own a dealership/work at dealership. great. But you have a clue what you're selling. Most dont.

Regardless of what the engine looked like, that salesman would have lost a sale for a comment like that. Obviously knows little about cars.

I'm sure he didn't mean "all" salesmen. You have to admit, there are alot of bs'ers out there... but like every field, you have good ones and bad ones.

Glad to hear you're pulling that kind of income into your home from car sales. Perhaps I need to quit my job and come work for you.

I saw a 99 c5 conv. online, so I went to the dealer to check it out. When I got there the vette was parked between to cars. As I looked it over I noticed that the paint was messed up on the drivers door. It looked like fog. I asked the salesman what happened to the door, and he said that I was looking at the reflection from the car next to it. So I asked him If I could move the car out into the open lot, so I did. When I got out of the car and looked at the door I was amazed that the reflection from that car that was 300ft away was still on the door. I shared this observation with the salesman, he then got in the car and diddent say a word and just drove away and did not come back. I was not the sucker he was looking for.
