I believe they take 6.5, so 6 is not too much. I'd keep an eye on it. Does it use oil between changes?

The capacity with filter is approximately 6.5 quarts. What does the oil level read on the dip stick?

Could you have possibly gotten some oil on the manifold?

If you see smoke, if it smells like oil burning you just might have spilled and that the oil burning off.
I don't know if you changed your oil filter but make sure that it was seated correctly. If you did'nt oil might be dripping from the filter.
Lastly check your oil cap and make sure it's on tight. It might be coming from there also.
Oh and 6 quarts is'nt enough to overflow. Some people have put has much as 7 in with no problem.

Yep, that was my first thought too - that you might have spilled a little oil somewhere and that was it burning off. I would just watch for leaks and check the oil level regularly for a while. Good luck!
