He mentioned that he was thinking about buying it.

Then I started thinking...was it just a "coincidence" or are we gonna have a pissin' match? Have any of you, after getting your Vette, had a neighbor do his part to "upgrade" the automotive scene in your neighborhood?

And finally, what'll happen if we take 'em to the track for a friendly race?
He probably thought the same thing when you bought a Vette........

I had a neighbor move in and tell me he had a Corvette and he didn't get it just because I had one...

Good point...but I kinda think not...unless my '91 Firebird Formula would have been counted in the same class of car as the NSX...

Instead, he bought a 911. Six months later I blew past him at a streetlight, two weeks after that he went and bought a new Viper. Then during his peak of glory in front of mutual friends, I told him to line it up any time he was ready, but only at a sanctioned dragstrip or roadcourse. Even though he thinks he's a good driver, he knows that I have considerable experience roadracing. So I psyched him out enough that he said he'd do our local 1/8th mile dragstrip. (he also thinks that dragracing requires no experience or talent ) So I agreed but I have not yet gotten him to commit. You can bet I'll be here on this forum with the results if/when it ever happens. The only reason I think I have a chance is because he has zero experience on a dragstrip and doesn't have a clue what it takes to launch a car off the line for 1/8 mile. If it was a 1/4 he'd probably blow past me on the big end but he doesn't even realize that.

In the meantime
Looking forward to hearing the results...

A few of my neighbors seem a little jealous since bringing the ZO6 home.

i got the PERFECT SOLUTION for you.. this is what you do. when he is out detailing his car when he first starts walk over to him and start talking to him and say yea i been thinking of selling my vette and go out and rent a ferrari or something extermely exotic and when you roll home pull it into your driveway when he is still there and see if he goes out and buys a new car AHAHAH and he probally will than go get back your vette and laugh haha

In my neighborhood, almost everybody has either a Corvette, or some type of muscle car, Chevelle, GTO, etc.

I don't think anybody bought theirs because of anyone else, but I am glad that we all appreciate cool cars.

Mazda made an RX-7 up until they introduced the RX-8, but they were only available in Japan and Australia (as far as I know).

Pic of an 02 Mazda RX-7 Type R Bathurst R can be seen here.

When I got my 2000 M6 coupe and told my friends I planned to do a intake, fast intake manifold with 90mm TB, a heads and cam package, LGM headers with X pipe, and exhaust, they both bought AEM's and single turbo kits for their Supras

Good call, it's a '93. One of only 350 imported in the US in 1993. Competition Yellow Metallic, twin turbo, and about $10k in mods. Ran 12's at the track @117mph. Super quick ride, from what I understand, and very nice. I just wish he didn't put it in storage so quick! I wanted to see what I could do bone stock against him before next year, when I start my performance mods.

I bought my Vette because I liked it. I hope my neighbor(s) will purchase their choice of vehicles for the same reason. What they drive is of no concern to me, since I am not the one paying for it. Quid Pro Quo......... not me

Doesn't any one buy American where you work?
