I've had my '02 coupe since last May and he's had his Acura NSX a lot longer. Yesterday morning as I was about to detail mine, I noticed him in front of his house inspecting this new-looking silver Viper. I strolled over and congratulated him on it. He mentioned that he was thinking about buying it.
Then I started thinking...was it just a "coincidence" or are we gonna have a pissin' match? Have any of you, after getting your Vette, had a neighbor do his part to "upgrade" the automotive scene in your neighborhood?
And finally, what'll happen if we take 'em to the track for a friendly race?

I had a neighbor move in and tell me he had a Corvette and he didn't get it just because I had one...

Instead, he bought a 911. Six months later I blew past him at a streetlight, two weeks after that he went and bought a new Viper. Then during his peak of glory in front of mutual friends, I told him to line it up any time he was ready, but only at a sanctioned dragstrip or roadcourse. Even though he thinks he's a good driver, he knows that I have considerable experience roadracing. So I psyched him out enough that he said he'd do our local 1/8th mile dragstrip. (he also thinks that dragracing requires no experience or talent ) So I agreed but I have not yet gotten him to commit. You can bet I'll be here on this forum with the results if/when it ever happens. The only reason I think I have a chance is because he has zero experience on a dragstrip and doesn't have a clue what it takes to launch a car off the line for 1/8 mile. If it was a 1/4 he'd probably blow past me on the big end but he doesn't even realize that.

so true......just remember, you have to drive a Chevy, but he has to drive and Dodge which is much worse

In my neighborhood, almost everybody has either a Corvette, or some type of muscle car, Chevelle, GTO, etc.
I don't think anybody bought theirs because of anyone else, but I am glad that we all appreciate cool cars.

When I got my 2000 M6 coupe and told my friends I planned to do a intake, fast intake manifold with 90mm TB, a heads and cam package, LGM headers with X pipe, and exhaust, they both bought AEM's and single turbo kits for their Supras

I bought my Vette because I liked it. I hope my neighbor(s) will purchase their choice of vehicles for the same reason. What they drive is of no concern to me, since I am not the one paying for it. Quid Pro Quo......... not me
