Of you probably want to know what it is. Buy the Black Book and it provides decoding for all model years. The eighth digit identifies the engine. S = LS6 engine. G = LS1 engine.
There is also an LS6 Plate on one of the components (not 100% sure offhand without looking though - think its on the throttle body cover but dont quote me yet ... )
What I should have included - the engine in question is supposedly a crate LS6 from general motors performance parts. What I am trying to verify if indeed it is an LS6 or LS1 clone.
