I was thinking about putting in new rocker arms and pushrods. Which ones would be awesome with a stock engine and cam, and only a K&N filter? Would I need to do LS1 edit after installation?
not sure why you would just change those without changing cam and springs also.
and if your thinking of buying aftermarket rockers, dont. the stockers are fine for just about everything but a solid roller.
Although sometimes guys have swapped in the more agressive 1.85 ratio rollers to improve breathing and squeeze some power out of the stock setup. Springs definitely need to be upgraded as well.
I recently swapped in the Harland sharp 1.7 rollers to complement my h/c setup and guard against the infamous needle bearing failure outlined in a TSB. I did have to slightly clearance the #7 exhaust rocker but I'm running the 853 5.3 L castings. Here's a link to some pics.

Patches, EXCELLENT pictures, as usual. I was thinking of doing a rocker swap for those exact reasons. Even though I don't drive the car all that aggressively, I don't like the idea of marginal parts being in my car, especially in the valve train.
Where are the needle bearings? I have excessive valvetrain noise and am coming to the conclusion that something is wrong with my rocker arms, i.e. extremely loud valves that sound like pinging, dropping and erratic idle speed, knocking here and there, and on 93 octane.

Needle bearings are at the fulcrum, or center pivot, of the rocker. When they give up the ghost, some of the needles can be found in the oil or on the magnetic drain plug (if you have one) where they eventually can migrate to. It's a quick job to pull your FRC's, coil packs and valve covers to check the rockers if you suspect you may have a problem. In most cases I've read about, there was no sign of a problem until needles were fished from the oil during maintenance. Check your springs carefully as those are also some of the symptoms of a weak/failed spring.
