I read an earlier thread concerning problems filling your gas tank. Tank would act as if it was full (pump nozzle clicks off) when it might be only half full. I remeber some saying that they would get different results with different pumps. I also remember something about a hose replacement. I've searched for the thread but can't find it. I've got an 04 vert that can be a bit of a pain to gas up. Could someone clue me in on what the problem might be and how to fix it?
Try putting the gas nozzle in only half way. If that doesn't help, try rotating the nozzle from the normal "hang down" position to either side or upside down.

Some gas pumps have a very high flow rate while others seem to be more moderate. The high flow ones, when set at the maximum, have a tendency to click off quick as the pressure builds up inside the tank. About all you can do with these is to set the nozzle on a lower fill setting. That should allow the tank to fill better.
I've never experienced this. If anything, I have the opposite problem. When it clicks off at the pump, I can round up to the next nickle...and that's it!

Yep, changing from the down position helped me too, just trial and error

Or just manually elevate the heel of the nozzle handle a little and that usually does the trick.
Vehicle is Difficult to Fill with Fuel or Filling Station Pump Shuts Off Before Tank is Full (Replace Tank Filler Hose) #04-06-04-031 - (Apr 22, 2004)
Vehicle is Difficult to Fill with Fuel or Filling Station Pump Shuts Off Before Tank is Full (Replace Fuel Tank Filler Hose)
1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette
Condition
Some customers may comment that their vehicle is difficult to fill with fuel or when filling, the pump continuously shuts off before the tank is full.
Cause
This condition may be caused by back pressure within the fuel filler hose. This back pressure trips the fuel nozzle prior to filling the tank, or results in a hard to fill condition.
Correction
Replace the fuel tank filler hose with P/N 10353139. This new hose has been redesigned to provide smoother flow conditions within the section.

Has anyone ever changed the filler hose on their own?
You have to pull the inner wheel liner out to get to the clamps, there is a access hole in the frame to get to the inner clamp, I have fixed 3 or 4 cars that had the hard to fill complaint, not to tough to install.. yes it does fix the complaint.
