I just ordered and installed one of the HID kits. The problem is a mis-match in color. The bulbs are both marked as 6000K, and I've swapped them from side to side and the color difference remains and does not follow the bulb. When I move the ballast, the color change follows the ballast. This leads me to believe that there is a problem with one of the ballasts. Either one ballast is over-driving the bulb making it burn brighter, or one is not sending enough current and makes the bulb dim.
The picture shows the difference in the two colors:
The vendor is suggesting that this is "impossible". I have spent the last week going back and forth in e-mail and moving parts around to determine what the problem is and it looks like I need a replacement ballast. Twice I have asked them to send a replacement ballast, but now I haven't received any response for two days. The last response I received just suggested that this is "impossible". Anyone have any suggestions?
Continue to hound them - and let the rest of us know who they are so we don't end up in the same boat . I'm planning on that mod after I get my new pipes on (and the money is handy )

The gas discharge determines the color (hence the differnence between the blue-ish and purple-ish colors). I've never heard of this being related to the ballist. The current from the ballist ignites the gas and then it's up to the bulb. I would give the vendor another try and send back their cr@p, if they're unwilling to offer anything other than "impossibilities". There are other vendors who want your business Just my .02
