How much for 60K service?
I called 2 Chevy dealers and said I needed a 60K mile service for a 2000 Vette. One quoted $375, the other $515. Anyone had this done lately at a dealer? How much?

Have you read the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual? All that is required is an air filter change.
I suggest reading over your entire maintenance schedule and determining what you need. Then, if you do not want to do the work yourself, call the dealer and ask him what it will cost for the items you want done.
Many dealers make up packages of non-required work, and tell the customers these are required at XX miles. Most of it is BS. Some dealers will try and sell a fuel filter replacement, fuel injector cleaning, engine cleaning, trans flush and fill, diff flush and fill; however, most of these items are not required under normal driving conditions.
Good luck, and remember, no matter how dependable a dealer is, they are in it to make money.

yep.....do your self a favor and buy a set of service manuals....small investment that will save you $$$$$$$$ down the road....I got mine from Fitchner
there is very little in the way of service you can't do if you are the kind that likes working on your car...belts ,hoses, fluid changes, wires, plugs etc. cost a fortune at the dealer

Do the filter change yourself. The only other thing you may want to do if you have not done it already is have a flush and fill on the coolant. I did this last Spring and it cost $40 at the dealer. Check your hoses and belts also, but if they look good, they can be left alone. Your dealers are trying to make a lot of money at your expense.

If your are the least bit mechanically inclined - screw the dealer. Buy a good air filter (K&N is what I use), and do the service yourself! You may want to change out the tranny fluid and filter, diff fluid - cost is well, well, below what dealer is quoting you! But use the same, non-syn diff fluid with addative - I used syn with addative and my diff sounded terrible. Went back to standard gear lube and addative and sounds fine (others have had some success, but why risk it - standard gear lube is fine!). Flush coolant - again you can do it for < $20. Dealers alwasy want a fortune! DIY and save $ and KNOW it is done right!

CA, I believe in preventative maintenance. Create your own 60K service. If you were prepared to spend a minimum of $375 put together a plan....
Air filter K&N $75
Bosch plus 4 plugs $65
MSD wires $85
Coolant flush at dealer or wherever $50??
Oil change $50
Tranny fluid change $100
I think thats $425....right around what you were planing to spend.
If you want to be frugal about it:
Fram air filter $10
Regular plugs $15
Oil change in driveway $30
$125 leftover to take wife to dinner....
