Cold air is good for performance, but these F1's don't hook. Our temps were 35-45 (F) this week, and I had traction problems like never before. I usually switch to "competitive driving" so the traction control doesn't interfere. Something happened this week I hope to never repeat.
I was taking an on-ramp curve and rolling into 3rd gear at WOT. I lost control at about 60mph, it snapped completely sideways. I lifted the throttle and after three huge fishtails and I saved it. I think the AH helped, but I wasn't looking at the dash for the message. (I was too busy steering it)
Glad to escape that one and thought maybe I should warn people to be careful out there if it's cold in your area.

Rest assured that the AH probably saved your bacon. It saved me about 3 times in the first 3 months of owning my Z, and now I don't get so freaked out when the car gets slide-ways. In fact, I just kind of go neutral in response and can feel the system working.
I just want to give a big to the Corvette team who came up with the AH system and all it's intricacies, sensors and algorithms!!
I agree. I am much more careful when the temp drops. They are definitely not cold weather tires. I will be putting mine up for the winter later this week before the weather turns for the worst up here.
Similiar thing happened to me my last and first trip to the track.....In Comp. mode I exited a banked left, and crested an off camber right in 2nd at WOT, and the car kicked out and sent me into the prairie!
Thank god there was no debris in the grass and I escaped a wiser and more careful Z driver...
Glad to hear you were able to save it without damage.
