If I had to "store" my car for the winter, it'd have a cover on it, but covering it every day or on the weekends is a bit over the edge, IMO. (Of course, no offense to you, Steve!)
No offense taken Dave, mine is stored for the winter. This is Chicago, where the streets swim in salt. My baby will never set foot in that kind of slop.
It sleeps under its new cover with its new battery tender keeping the juice flowing.
How does the Evolution4 and Noah covers compare in weight?
The E4 material is a heavier weight fabric. I don't remember the actual difference, but I believe it is significant. The E4 fabrics utilized a very fine fiber inner layer to provide the moisture barrier properties. The NOAH has a micro-porous film middle layer. The film layer can provide better barrier properties at lower weights, so the overall fabric can be lighter. The trick is to provide the best barrier and still allow for breathability. Both the E4 and NOAH fabrics are excellent for this characteristic.
The weak link in all the synthetic fiber fabrics is their ability to provide protection (acid rain, UV rays, etc.) over the life of the fabric. What usually happens with the cheaper covers is that their "protection efficiency" deminishes MUCH quicker. Even though you have a cover that is still in one piece and can be installed over your Corvette, it doesn't mean that it is providing you with adequate protection!
Again, I will stress...."You get what you pay for" when you purchase a cheap cover!!
What is the the inside of a cover, like the Wolf brand, if it isn't flannel like the other one at Mid America. I have seen Wolf recommended, but my main concern isn't protection for outside use. I just need something with a soft lining and a heavy enough material to protect from scratches.
I keep mine garaged, I understand Noah is best for outdoors
How did you hook up the battery tender with the cover on. I don't have either now but was thinking of getting both.
Thanks
The cables that hook up to the battery are long enough to go down the side of the car under the cover and back up. I have the transformer sitting on the cover of the hood, so I can always see the indicator lights.
I have a NOAH custom cover with pockets for the side mirrors and I HATE it. Rain, dirt and everything else goes right through it and it has been so since day one. Even morning dew goes straight through. And water that gets through takes forever to dry. I can detail the car, cover it and then the 24 rain-free hours later, the car will need washing when the cover comes off; if it rains at all, even 15 minutes after being covered, the car will need washing over. About all NOAH is good for is shade.
Part of the problem is all of the hype about "breatheability". I can see not wanting to use a 100% vinyl cover, but I do want something truely waterproof.
I have a custom factory cover of fabric on my boat that is absolutely fabulous. It keeps everything out. I have a custom factory cover of fabric for my motorcycle tht is also great and it keeps everything out.
Why can't someone make a 100% waterproof, fabric cover for a car?

i've been using a noah fabric cover for about 4 years, and have been completely satisfied...i do not have a garage, and my 00 coupe is a daily driver...i don't cover it every night, but do most nights...my house is surrounded by pine trees, and sap mist is a real problem this time of year...any cover will become dirty, especially with outdoor use...i have mine cleaned at a local dry cleaners when i feel it needs it...the particular cover i am using now is about 2 years old (got a new one when i got a c5), and i have never had any problems with anything coming through the cover-and we've had our share of bad weather around here...a completely water-proof cover would have to have to be made of plastic (which would not breathe), or have some kind of membrane like gore-tex (that should cost a load)...maybe you could contact the manufacturer of your boat cover....

Gary,
The problems that your describe just don't make sense! If the cover is new, then I would suspect that you have one with defective fabric. All NOAH covers come with a guarantee. I would check to see if you have any recourse with the company that you purchased it from.
If your cover is older (year or more), have you ever cleaned it? If so, did you follow the manufacturer's directions? Most of the middle layers of these fabrics are somewhat delicate and can be damaged if machine washed, and ESPECIALLY if they are machine dried.
You should not be having these problems with the NOAH cover! I hope you are able to resolve this issue!!

The cleaning instructions on the Wolf Evolution4 cover I just got, say to hose it off and allow to air dry, if cleaning becomes necessary. I was thinking the same thing as far as damaging the fabric if cleaned improperly.

I know it is hard to do, especially if you drive your Vette often, but always make sure your Corvette is clean before installing the cover. First, it keeps the cover clean. But most important, if you have dirt on the car when you put on the cover you stand a chance of scratching the paint!!
One problem that I use to always have was my cover would get dirty around the areas where the tires touched. I took an old bed sheet and cut it into 4 pieces large enough to drape over the tires before installing the cover. That way the cover doesn't come into contact with the tires!!
