I got my first car for $700 in 1992 - A 1983 Orange Toyota Corrolla.
A 1965 Ford Mustang with 3 different colored fenders, a 3 speed, mag wheels for only $450.00 in 1973. I drove that puppy thru nursing school and bought my first new car with my 1st job...a 1975 stripped VW Rabbit...no radio, carpet, only heat.
In 1968 I bought a 52 ****** Jeep for $250. I bought it from a driving range and it looked like it had chickenpox from all the golf *****. It needed the engine rebuilt and body work done. My Dad told me when it was totally restored I could drive it. Took me almost a year to rebuild the motor, rewire, reupholster, do the body work and paint it. Sounds like a long time but at $1.00 hr at an after school job it took awhile. I learned more about auto mechanics though! Dad was definitely smarter than I gave him credit for then.

1965 Dodge Polara 2dr HT - 383 4bbl, in puke green with a black vinyl top. Paid $300 for the car..... Had a $29.95 Earl Scheib black lacquer paint job put on it. Also - my first black car!
Technically a 72 VW Bug...but it never ran right (hand me down from my sister who destroyed it)...
After that, I got an 85 Ford Tempo with 165k for $500. It worked fine for a year until I replaced it with an 85 Olds Wagon, lol! The station wagon wasn't much, but the mileage was much lower and in much better running condition. Talk about a true party car for college!
From there, I got an 78 BMW 320i that ran on 3 of 4 cylinders, then an 85 Mustang, 88 Fiero...I loved that little Fiero...it's one of the cars I wish I'd never sold...

Was 15 and it was a 1966 mustang with 200ci straight 6. I didn't drive it for long before I had ripped out the 6 and put in a 289 V-8. My second car was one of my favories--a 1969 Mustang MachI. I'm 35 now.
