I had my 98 vert out today with the top down probably for the last time till spring. It was a very nice day on Long Island today. Anyway I bought my car about 5 or 6 weeks ago and today was the first time I put my foot to the floor. I was on the Parkway doing 55 or so and had some space in front of me so I thought it was a good time, I put my foot down and was over 100 in no time. Only problem was I caught up to the car in front of me very quickly. These cars want to move!
That sensation, the first time I ever did it, when I was test driving my Corvette with the owner, was what sold me on buying a Corvette. I knew I had to have that.
That is the exact feeling that made have to get it. I was ready to buy a new car and looked for a few weeks. Drove a jag, a Titan, a Merauder...I liked that car....and then I thought...why not a vette. The first place I went wouldn't even let me test drive their new C5. I had to be "serious". I was pizzed, but I drove across town and the best salesman I've ever come across let me drive a new one. He was a vette guy, He knew the cars inside and out. After his half hour mini-camp, he said lets drive one. He fired up one of the ones on the show room floor and pulled it outside. It was a black coupe with 35 miles on it. He said these cars sell themselves. He wasn't going to talk me into anything. I let her rip and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face all day long. That ride sold me. He even offered to let me keep it for the day after they filled it up. I eneded up buying the next week. He didn't have what I wanted, but found one and I drove home a happy man.....That first stomp and the rear end squatting into a launch........man, it's awesome....
