Its about time to clean the Blackwing being that winter is here soon.
I was told not to use Simple Green because it could harm the material that the Blackwing is made out of.
Does Blackwing sell a cleaner?
What do you use?
Where can I purchase some cleaner?

Yes. There is a Blackwing cleaning kit @$19.95. You can find it at several vendors online.
I've used Simple Green and had no problems with it. It's not acidic and bio-degradeable. My filter came out clean.
The only thing I was warned about was the K&N cleaner. Now that one is made for the material used in the K&N filter, and I've heard that cleaner is acidic.

If you're still skeptical about the Simple Green, here you go ... BW cleaning kits .. http://www.corvettegarage.com/produc...aning-Kit.html Good luck!
Just make sure you brush out whatever small debris you can and run the water from the inside of the filter out, so you don't embed the smaller debris. The rest of it is in the instructions?
Save your money on the Blackwing cleaning kit and go to just about any auto parts place like auto-zone or advance-auto and get a K&N filter cleaning kit, works great
I just cleaned my this past week, used a 2:1 ratio of water to Simple Green, and let it soak for about 10 minutes, then sprayed it out (opposite the flow of air). After letting it air dry I just sprayed it down lightly with mineral oil. Its nice a blue like new now, and I don't have oil dripping all over the place...its all nice and absorbed - you dont need a lot. Total spending was about 5 dollars, plus I can use the simple green for a ton of other stuff, including cleaning the engine bay.

I hadn't thought about using Simple Green for cleaning filter element.
Think I'll give it a try next time.
I have been using it to clean engine bay for quite some time now and also use it to clean my FIKSE Wheels, which is what Fikse recommends, and works great for those tasks.
