Default Bodyshop trouble

I recently had the right side of my car repaired from some vandalism and the shop had, IMO, less than satasfactory work. There are slight swirls all over and there are wet sanding marks on the lower body panels. Does anyone know of anywhere in the houston area that can clean up my car. I do detail work but cannot do something this in-depth. I think the whole car needs to be re-buffed and polished. BTW, taking it back to the shop is not an option. I don't want it going in there again.

If you had the repair done under insurance you should contact them first.

For purposes of any kind of claim you probably need to show the first shop what you don't like about the car and get their opinion about the job and what they'd do about it.

the shop must finish to the customers satisfaction- you paid for it, and it's not like you are expecting a Concourse show winning product
these are simple fixes that they should easily want to complete rather than a bad reputation of poor quality
get the shop mgr and and show him the problem areas, he should be able to see them before you have to point them out

I agree somewhat but have a problem with some of that.

The idea that a shop should finish a car to a customer's satisfaction is correct... however, if the car is that bad and they let it out like that, I most certainly wouldn't want them touching my car.

After being in the bodyshop business for over 20 years, I ALWAYS inspect the car before I give it to the customer. I try to pick it apart like the pickiest customer would. If I can't find anything wrong, then chances are, a customer won't.

When a customer comes into my shop, they are doing us a favor, they have chosen to place their trust and faith that we will fix their car to their satisfaction. We're not doing them a favor, they paid for the work done, it should be done correctly.

Unless it was a freak occurrance, if the shop let the car out in the condition that was mentioned, chances are they're not into customer satisfaction.

No flame, just my opinion.

I do not know you but I would have never paid them, if the job was not what I expected.. the process requires that you stick up for yourself.. and not accept a job that was not what you paid. if you paid for a cheap job, then you got what you paid for,.,Not sure why you cant take it back there .. You can't go through life allowing people to take advantage of you..

there are only 2 local body shops i trust just because of that policy right there. one my friend worked at part time while going to school for autobody- the owners scary picky wife inspects every finsished car, and she is gooood. if she finds anything wrong, anything, back into the shop it goes. that is putting the customer in front of the employees and the business, and they have an awesome reputation for quality work.

ET,

I agree completely. The customer should be able to take their car back and have it fixed to their satisfaction. Hopefully the shop either fixes it correctly out of embarassment or for the need for complete customer satisfaction.

The reason I said I wouldn't take it back is because around here, we've got some shops around here that the poor customer has literally taken their car in 4 and 5 times to have the same problem fixed...

The problem with that is with each "repair" to the screwed up area, the repaired area now increases to include either include another blendable panel and/or another coat of paint. I've seen so many customers that after 4 or 5 times, they just give up. That's terrible.

Anyway, I hope he gets it resolved... hopefully the shop does the right thing.

Hope you get this fixed. If you went through insurance, get them involved. You, or the insurance company, should not have to pay for shabby work. If you paid for it yourself, talk with the manager of the body shop. If they can't get it right, demand your money back. Should they refuse, consider legal action to recover your funds.
