I am trying to find a shipping company to transport a 2004 Z06. Any suggestions on which company to use ? Open carrier or enclosed carrier ?

Ditto. Tried searches on this forum and the other Z06 forum. From what I gather, looks like the below are the best bets...

Intercity Transport
Passport Transport
Exotic Car Transport
Horseless Carriage

I didn't see any negative posts about Intercity or Horseless.

I'm actually going to be shipping probably 3 cars. Do they give discounts for multiple cars? I was also thinking about buying a trailer. Once I get quotes from the transport companies, I'll be crunching the numbers.

Has anyone else crunched numbers?

I am in the middle of moving my Z from illinois to calif. Try here first:
http://auto-transport-reviews.com/

I am planning on spending about 1800 bucks to use a door to door enclosed carrier.

I just shipped my 2004 Z06 from Detroit to the LA area using Crossover, uncovered, for $845.
No problems, arrived unscathed, but very dirty.
A good one hour wash, and she was as good as new.

Process was as smooth as can be, car carrier was a 2004 state of the art carrier and a driver a true pro at taking care of the Vette.

I had the drivers cell, so I knew where he was at all times, he even apologized for driving the Vette through a rainstorm !

Be aware that many of the carriers "farm out" to others to cover routes, while I hired Crossover, @ www.crossovertransport.com, the actual carrier was an independant, "Mr. Roosters transport", Phone No# 417-736-3896.

Your experience may vary, I would use them again in a minute.

A couple of other points, I had a guaranteed top load
and complete no deductible insurance included in the cost, I know your regular auto ins. covers you also, but I have a $500 deduct. on that, in any event, others I checked with like DAS, wanted $650, plus $100 top load, plus $120 for Insurance, and that was depot to depot, not door to door like this one.
One last thing, if uncovered, top load sounds good to avoid fluids from your buddy above you, but bird crap eating away for a week on your paint is hell too......

PS: Covered would have been about $1250
Good luck.

I've shipped two Corvettes on an open carrier. Both arrived fine albeit, dirty. Something to think about especially when assessing the carriers promised delivery date/dates and cost. Most of the places you wind up calling are brokers. They quote you a price, give an estimated delivery date and basically post your request on the job boards that the truckers look at to get jobs. The broker quotes you a price then posts the price they are willing to give the independent driver which often is not worth it to the trucker. You need to find out what they are going to pay the driver because that will give you an idea how fast you can find a driver to pick it up. Also the driver needs to get a full load before he heads out so he can make some money on the whole deal. In the first shipping case, the broker was skimming too much off the price they quoted me and no driver wanted to take the job. Good luck and make sure you have a lot of patience

Thanks for your input. I was able to deal directly with truck owner, and it is being shipped with a car cover, enclosed, and with an elevator type lift/ramp
