tool kit
Looking to put together a basic tool kit for an '04 coupe. Seeking information from all the experienced shade tree types on the forum as to what you use the most often. Thanks.

I have a small tool box that I keep in the center compartment of my coupe. It contains a number of sockets, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers and some torx bits. May not ever use all the tools that are in there, but nice to know that if I need something, it will be there.

I keep one of those 10-way screwdrivers, a pair of pliers, some electrical tape, a small roll of racer's tape (duct tape), a pair of Mechanix Wear gloves, along with a good flashlight and my tire repair stuff (compressor, repair kit - I run non-runflats) and my jacking pucks in the right rear compartment.

I bought the Craftmans set that costs ~$150 (on sale - metric & standard), 4 in 1 screwdriver, Torx bit socket set (from Home Depot), pliers, vice grips, trouble light, fuses, tape, extra belt. For anything else, call AAA. I put it all in a small canvas zippered bag (from a tool bin for $4.50) that fits nicely into the storage compartment & out of the way. Also, a cheap emergency road kit (has jumper cables, flares, etc.) I pack when we go on a trip.

Thaks for the input guys. Any particular size Torx bits or just a range of sizes? Same question regarding socket/comination wrenches. Instead of a full set,are there a couple specific sizes needed by the car?

I drove to Ontario and back from CT (1244 miles) with just my cellphone, credit card and stock runflats. Paid for all options on AAA so that's my breakdown kit.
