Default HELP...S.S Brake inserts

Please don't flame me for posting here, but this seems like the place to get a quick answer. I got some ss inserts for my brakes from a guy on here that makes and sells them. It looks like you have to take the two little bolts out that hold the caliper on in order to get the caliper off. I tried to take the top one out and loosen the bottom one ,but they just keep turning and do not come out. ???? Tried to screw them back in tight and now they will not tighten up,they just keep on turning. You guys that have changed your rotors and calipers how do you get the caliper off??? Thanks Jim

Look just inside of the bolt head and you'll see the guide pin on the other side of the caliper tab the bolt goes thru. There are a couple of flats on the pin that you slide a wrench over to hold the pin while you turn the bolt head. The bolt screws into that guide pin and bottoms out before tightening totally against the caliper. When you tighten the bolt back up, torque it to 23 lb. ft.

Btw, you only need to take the top bolt out and swing the caliper down to get the pads out.

You can see the flats I'm referring to in the pic below.

I am going to change out pads tomorrow on my 99 C5, and have some cautions about it. Done a bunch on other cars.. Basically any different?

Not sure what I am looking for in the photo? Could you clarify? Thanks for the torque specs - that's great help.

If you look at the picture you see the light gray caliper with the bolt head. On the other side of the caliper is a shiny round piece that has two flat places on it and a round rubber piece. I just went out and took a look and when you take your tire off you will see what he means.
