Our Vettes don't go into storage, per se, but they're under wraps in our garage. Why? Because we live in New England, and our winters are pretty much dismal!! I know there are some who just drive them, anyway...we prefer to keep ours in as good condition as possible to totally enjoy during the nicer times of the year. That's generally not possible in ice, snow, rain, sand, salt, etc. on the roads around here!
I can't really say but I get the impression that most people who do live in places like Minnesota and Wisconsin. Places that get LOTS of deep, deep snow.
I store mine. The weather just plain sucks in Massachusetts. I bought the car to drive with the top down in warm weather. It will be away from end of Oct - end of April. Speaking of bad weather, its snowing right now.
Like others, not really "in storage" but in the garage ready to drive if we get a particularly nice day in the winter. For me that's mimimal salt, no snow or ice. Otherwise, she sits patiently while my Jeep gets to have some fun.
I live in South Florida...only time mine is in "storage" (aka: garage) is at night and when I go on a trip. Otherwise, I am driving it. Florida is good for that.

mine goes into storage, but I go up and start it 1 time a month,,and if it's dry (no salt snow) I'll even take it out and drive it a few days. The salt just destroys the paint and undercarriage of the car...rain and snow don't bother me just salt/slush.
I'm one of those "Wisconsin guys". I don't even drive the car if there is a cloud in the west let alone snow/ice and SALT She is parked for winter which will last until mid May-ish. All covered up w/the battery tender in place. Thank God for my Thundercat and river ice, it's the only way I make it !
Mine goes away next week. We don't really get any snow to speak of. But they do salt the streets for a couple of months due to ice so I don't need that crap on my car.
Add another "Wisconsin guy" to the list. Car is sitting in my garage under wraps waiting for next spring.
The Vette is my weekend/fun car and I don't see a lot of opportunity for driving it during WI winters. I just stick to my 4wd truck in the winter. Handles the snow/slush great and I don't have to worry about getting caught somewhere in a big snowstorm.
Storing the Vette will make the arrival of spring even sweeter Absence makes the heart grow fonder or someting like that.

I put mine into semi-hibernation over the winter. If it is nice outside, I still drive it. The reason it stays parked for a while is I do not want to have to drive it when there is snow/ice on the ground nor when the roads have been heavily salted.

I don't really store it...but I did buy an old Explorer to drive when it gets nasty up here...Mostly it rains a lot in the winter and on those days I'll keep the Vette in the garage.
