no reason for you to be worried, assuming of course it is in good mechanical condition. If you post the VIN someone can run a warranty claims report and maybe a carfax for you.
I am considering a very low mileage, 11,000, 97 C-5.
Is there anything about the 97 that is taboo or that I should be aware of?
Thanks
No taboo's, but there are a couple of items that have been added after '97 that some find important such as a HUD. There are other things, but in the end it's a C5... and that's what counts.
Items such as HUD and LS6 intake..and a few others come on newer models but can be added to a 97. Competitive driving is not an option you can add 97. But then again the 97 has the best fuel system for our cars. If you wanted to SC later you will be happy with this setup. That car sat around for a while so make sure everything works.

I purchased a 97 with 50,000 miles and I've had no major problems. Before purchase I ran a CarFax and had a prepurchase inspection done by a local dealer. I say go for it
Just bought my '97 two months ago. It had 58K on it. I looked over all of the paperwork to check what had been serviced and when. Everything checked out and I love the car. Only problem so far is that I don't get to drive it enough.
only problems in a year and a half have been a noisy fuel pump, and the ignition switch wears out and the VATS system doesnt work right. That isnt a problem with '97's... just older C5's in general.
i bought a low milage 97, and everythings been working great
go for it!
Same here. I'm loving my '97 after two plus years of ownership. We picked her up with 27k on the odometer. We just turned 50k on our way back from Bowling Green this year. Still runs like the day I brought her home.
Purchased mine a year ago with 49,000 miles. Have had all of the normal 97 issues crop up - both outside mirrors were loose, had to be replaced, loud fuel pump - replaced, stearing column lockup - replaced, permanent grin even when it sits in the garage - no way I'm replacing that !!

I only have 40,000 on mine but no problems here. So what is this about the fuel system with superchargers? I'm debating on a supercharger (d-1) or h/c package.
"Competitive driving is not an option you can add 97." What are you talking about?
