Default exhaust question

I have a Corsa Touring exhaust set-up. I am thinking of getting a set of Borla "stingers" dual tips that I can get for 300.00 from a party that felt they were too loud. My concern is the resonance that comes with them. I drive the car every day,125000 on a 2000 coupe and take several long trips every year.
All advice would be appreciated.

I don't think you would be happy with the Borla Stingers. If you want quiet on your trips, the stingers won't work. I would suggest Magnaflow first without the X-pipe and if that is to loud for you, add the X-pipe. Insulating the cargo area will not help you with something as loud at the Stingers.

My 2 cents.

I've never had Touring but I started out with Indys. I'm basing this on my
experience and assuming you have a stock exhaust other than the Corsa.
When I went to Stingers (this was before the headers and all that stuff),
I did notice a bit of resonance at cruise speeds. For me, this was no
problem, I like it. Stingers sound GREAT on these cars (IMO) but if you
can't tolorate any resonance, then I recommend careful consideration on
your part. Keep in mind if you add headers and a cam, it will DEFINITELY
be louder! But I love it!!! I run mine with an x-pipe BTW.

Do some searches, you should find a fair amount of info on this subject!

Stingers are awesom, I would never part with them, but they do get kinda annoying on long trips, but only if the top is up.
I'm thinking that the dynamat might help.

....the Indys is just the ticket! No resonance and you can scare the hell out of women and small animals when you jump on it

Or just add cutouts. If Patches did it it can't be that bad.

Posted this in another thread, but here it is again:

I've had my dual tip Stingers on for about 3 weeks now, and I just LOVE THEM!! At first I thought they weren't loud enough (I'm used to Harley straight-pipe loud). They sound AWESOME at idle and when you're on the gas! IMO, they look cooler than any other exhaust I've seen for the C5.

Maybe I don't know what everyone means by resonance, but I don't hear anything in any rpm range that makes me question my purchase. The popping I COULD do without, but it's not a deal breaker, and I'm gonna do the Borla x-pipe which is supposed to reduce popping.

Now on to the headers, which everyone says will make them even louder, which is OK by me... Although secretly I'm glad they're not as loud as my Hog.

Added: Roof on or off, they sound great!! This my daily driver. I think it's just personal preference. I wouldn't part with mine!! Anyone in your area have them on a car for you to test?

Corsa Indy's are perfect for the vette. So classy but such a beast. there is no better system available.

I have Corsa Indy's on my EB 2003 COupe, but am considering something different for the 99FRC - B&B PRT's with Round double-walled tips (look like the "Pro tips" that Corsa makes). So I will have the same look as the Indy's but a still more aggressive sound. The mufflers are shorter. PRT stands for Purged Resonance Technology. Hope they live up to their name!

But I LOVE the popping - especially on an A4 ( do you know how *hard* you have to work to make an A4 burble like that on decel?)
