Ties the tranny and diff together more securely to strengthen the assembly and resist twisting forces to prevent failure. Here are a few pics.

They are mostly used on cars with big horses, and go to the drag strip. It helps to prevent misalignment in the drivetrain from high rpm launches with sticky tires. It just makes sure that everything stays where it should, because when the parts become stressed or misaligned, they tend to break.
