Default Parking - Part II

A couple of weeks ago, I told about how my friend and I (he has the new Carerra) park in the back 40 of the parking lot. One day I came out and a beater Jetta was parked by my Vette (and I swear something was growing on the hood ... has this black fuzzy stuff all over it!).

Yesterday, it was back. But this time, he'd backed into his space next to me so the more likely damaging driver's door was next to me. Nothing done though ... he was far enough away. He probably does it just for the scare factor.

But there was also another car (reasonably well cared for) next to the Carerra, but with the driver's door within striking range.

This morning, it was sorta funny ... he parked his Carerra diagonally across two parking spots.

Hope he didn't get keyed! I've heard numerous times of people parking and taking 2 spots to keep the rif-raf cars away from their car and coming back and finding that they have some very long key marks in the paint.

I hope not too, but it's not likely here. We're at a research institute populated by academia, contractors, and NASA ... but you never know.

It'd be a shame to have a $100K car keyed.

I used to take up two spaces (always in the back 40), until I starting on this forum. Folks gave me hell, so now I only take up one space (still in the back 40).. Been doing the two spaces for years (+10) and never had a problem, but since I was chastised and know how others feel, I don't do it anymore..

Can't really understand why someone would want to do damage to a car that's really out of the way and not bothering anyone's parking spaces...

Oh, well - live and learn..

Guess you just have to hope that the Jetta and the other driver is very careful with their doors. Hope you don't get any dings in the car.

I couldn't give the tinest f$ what anyone says - I park in the back 40 diagonally across 2 spaces. I have been hassled by the owners of the car park but never keyed or damaged - 20+ years with numerous custom cars.

And there is almost always a POS parked close when I come out... but far enough away from the brightwork to damage it with their doors....

It happened to me driving a firebird ,parking in the back 40, taking 2 spaces came out to a key job. Now I park and walk and try to lessen the chance of damage by trying to park next to a curb.

Somewhat related...

I never park across two lanes, I think that is just asking for trouble but what is funny is the way people park at the gym I go to. Like most gyms, people are trying to show off something and one of the trainers got a new Z4 a while back. A decently cool car until he started having the girls train outside with him just so he could take the top down and turn on some music to show off. He always parks right where everyone can see him. So then about a month ago I got my car and my girlfriend and I were going to the gym. She made me back up next to his car. My car was all waxed up with the top off and man did it look sweet! It blew his car away and I saw him looking at it. Ever since he has not been quite as eager to show off his car...
