Default Competition mode

Would some one please explain clearly when to use competition mode instead of just shutting off traction control.

When you put it in competitive mode your shutting off traction controll and keeping active handling on,you can brake your wheels loose and if your car starts to get sideways the active handling helps correct the car as long as not too far sideways,

71.......very concisely put.....well done.

Personally, the ONLY time I change the mode at all is when i am at the track, and i go into competitive mode. Just in case I heel-toe incorrectly and don't get the RPM's matched right on a downshift....if the tires break lose as a result, I don't want T/C to shut off my fuel delivery(which happened to me on my first DE event....live and learn)

When its not below 50 degrees or wet out. The rest of the time, I either have it in Comp Mode or everything off.

The traction control just aids in traction, but by doing so, bogs your engine. It feels a lot like the fun police is ruining things for me when I get on it and forgot that I left traction control on.

As I am still learning the car, I tend to leave TC and AH on most of the time. When I want to play (and there are open roads to play on) I will go to Comp Mode. I have not run the car without AH on yet.

To get to comp mode, hold the AH button on the center console for 8-10 secs. The DIC will read "COMPTETIVE MODE" if you press Reset, you get control of your DIC back, but remain in Comp Mode.

The only thing I don't like about comp mode is, I can't view any other information on the DIC.

Press "RESET". Competition Mode will still be on until you either turn it off or turn off the ignition.

Really? I had the understanding that if you did the reset, then comp mode was disabled.

No, comp mode stays on reset just lets you access the DIC again.

Just look at the little "tire tread" light. It doesn't come back on.

The reset button is for the display, so you can use your gauges. Comp Mode will stay on unless you hit the button again to turn it back on (or off) or shut the car down.

Positive.

I did a hard launch and TCS kicked in slowing me down because I got wheel spin.

I then put it into Comp Mode and hit reset. I did a second hard launch and got all the wheel spin I wanted with no TCS kicking in. I hit some corners and got the AH message to pop up

On the street I run with all ACH systems enabled. There are a number of members on this forum who had an unexpected "event" on the street and crashed their cars when they had all ACH systems disabled, and more than one admits they wish the system was on. Why take the risk? It works like a champo and it may save you or your car from disastor.

At the drag race track I put the car in competitive mode. Auto-X all system off, and depending on the road course (and my experience at that track) I run either all off or competitive mode.

Just my .02, worth about .01

Reset will clear most messages from the D.I.C. For example open the door with the car running and you get a door open message. Press reset and the message disappears.

Ya if you want the car to drive itself.

Personally, (IMHO) I beleive if you need to rely on the electronic nannies, maybe you should consider driving a little less car.
