I have heard both "live" and the 66 system will probably be what you'll want if you want more than stock but less than stingers...but everyone's ears are different. Try and figure out a way to hear them in person that's the only sure way.
the 66 system has a kind of motor boat sound at idle.

I have them on mine. Put them on right after I bought the car (about 4 years ago) and I love the sound. They have a better sound at idle than stock and when you go WOT, you know they are not the stock mufflers. But, they are not too loud that it breaks windows. The only problem I had with mine is the popping when letting off the gas and the resonance in the car in 6th gear. Installed an X-pipe and that took care of most of those problems. Quality is very good and the looks are awesome.
I've never heard the Route 66 in person but I have the PRT's on mine and they sound great (especially at WOT) except at idle. It still has that motor boat pucka-pucka sound. Definate improvement in torque.
