Hey!!! So who bought a set of the vertical door kits frome west coast corvtte? I thought we all were in there and still no pics. I would love to buy them but have yet to see any of us with a set installed. Anyone have any installed? HAPPY TURKEY DAY ALL
I talked to a guy I met at a gas station who had them. I don't think he said where he got them, but did say he had some trouble getting them installed and the one still didn't shut properly.
I thought they looked awesome, but his wife said she didn't like the looks and they were too heavy for her to close.
I looked at a couple of Vettes at SEMA with vertical door kits. There were a few and not all of them had the same kit but all of them were junk. Wether it is the kit or installer none in my opion were worthy of going on a vette. One I had to try three times to get the door to latch...silver vette with CF hood and trunk lid. All of them really lacked in the door jamb area. I have been looking at kits for a while now. 2 companies have talked to me about putting kits on my car for free...turned both down because of finished product I have seen first hand. A major item to me is what gets done with the wire harness. I have seen only a few kits (on any kind of car) that had a respectable wire harness in the door. The car comes from factory with a rubber boot/grommet system for a reason. The clean look the boot provides and the protection it provides should not be lost.
Now there is a new company called LSD doors, they are part of KW Suspension. www.lsd-doors.com They are building a kit like no other I have seen. It has provisions for a wire harness, it is CNC machined, and it is crashed tested to German TUV specs. All goes well I will have a set of these shortly and will post pics once installed. These guys installed a set of door hinges on a Dodge Neon in the parking lot at SEMA. They started and finished on the Monday before the show. I worked the doors and they were flawless.
These are just my opions based off of alot of hands on research.
