Default Column Lock Recall

Are there really any advantages to having the column lock recall performed other than the fact that the fuel will cutoff in event of a column lock. I have a custom tune but was thinking of getting LG headers and having it retuned. Thought I might go ahead and have the recall performed before doing the header upgrade.

I seem to remember reading that the PCM flash upgrades the version of the software and that there are more fixes/improvements than just the column lock issue.

I never heard of any other updates that might be beneficial. Most folks have the recall done for the record in case it becomes a resale issue later. Any custom tuning would be lost after reflash. Having said that, I had mine done with first oil change.

I ignored the recall as I have custom tuning. Don't trust GM in that I have no confidence in their fix. The column lock bypass will remain on my car.......that way I am assured there won't be a problem...

I had mine done this week. I ignored the first letter. And the second letter. Then the dealer called me. I sure hope this doesn't come back to bite me in the buttox.

I've ignored the 2 letters from GM. Is it mandatory for us to do this or can we choose to ignore it? I have custom tuning and really don't want to let them (GM) play with flashing my car.

Just completed the recall eventhough never experienced any problems with the steering locking, so far so good, no errors from the DIC

I'm not sure how this would become a resale issue later. Since this recall does nothing to fix what the recall is for (the column lock), on manual trans C5's.
