Attempted to flush mount the rear lenses. The only way I can get the lense to sit flush with the top is to leave them a little loose. Did any of you file an angle on the spacers so that the lense sat right? Sure would like to get this finished, but unless its right I wont do it. Any words of wisdom?
I encountered the same problem. I used the MD auto and marine weather stripping from Lowe's - black in color and 1/2" wide - comes in a clear and purple package. I lined the back part of the housing with this weather stripping - made a full round with the stuff, then put another piece right next to it, side by side, at the bottom lining ONLY from one side screw mount to the other - kinda like a half moon shape.
When you tighten the screws, this will pull the bottom out slightly making the top fit more flush following the contour of the car better. Turned out great for me.
Just screw em in dude.. Its not that critical.............
No offense, but it IS that critical for it to look right, and stay that way without constant watch.
And I did put a piece on the bottom edge, still had to leave them loose for it to alighn with the top. I'm going to grind the mounting spacers so that the angle is correct, and then the insulation will not look partially there or will it allow the lense to be constantly loaded on the insulation at all times. Sooner or later the insulation will become mashed and stay that way allowing the lense to move. Thanks for your replys.
Well just call me stupid..... I was using low density insulation. Went to high density and all is ok. Now I have to see if I really like it! Thanks everybody. And by the way, used 3/4x3/8 offset to the outside on bottom, 1/2x1/2 on the top. Very secure, alignment good.

Andy ... I'm not sure whqat you mean by these dimensions. Could you explain a little further? :o
I'm not absolutely certain I want to do this mod ... I like the way it looks now ... but it does get awfully dirty and dusty around the edges. And it doesn't seem that doing this totally solves the problem. They can never be perfectly flush. Am I correct?
Rocket...Used the 3/4w x 3/8h on the bottom, 1/2w x 1/2h on top. Put the 1/2 along the inner mounting edge, 3/4 on the bottom but i installed it starting along the outside edge of the 1/2. This helped offset the lense, and it is solid. the upper edge of the lense will be flush, the bottom will be on the inner edge.

I did the mod and like it. Just keep the old parts and you can always go back to how it was.
It helps with the dirt but it still gets there. I did it for looks first, less dirt second. Mine aren't perfectly flush and I wish they stuck out a little more but this is the way the kit was.

I'm with you, I like the inset lenses. Just buy the weatherstripping and forget flush mounting. This has eliminated about 90% of the dust problem for me.
