hvac readout
seems like i've seen a thread like this...can't find it...oh well...yesterday, i noticed the display for my heat/ac was not visable...tapped the display lightly, and it came on, but not very bright (was at night), came back up to normal brightness in a few minutes...same thing happened this morning...anyone experienced this?

The lights went out on my 2000 A4 shift indicator one evening but came back on the next day. Hasn't happened again. That was about one year ago.

Most likely it is the unit. No repair known for the display going dim. 98 and 99's are the main years with this problem, both in vettes and others(Buick). Check with forum dealers for replacement is about the only answer. gmpartsdirect.com is one.
Not hard to do the change out yourself. Have been many posts on this in the past. It is a known problem.
