I have an opportunity to buy a new 2004 Z06 exhaust. My intention is to bolt it onto my stock C5 vert. I have seen past posts where others have done this too but with Long tube headers. What will it sound like on a stock C5 and will this change effect my current performance?
The exhaust note with be a little deeper and the sound at WOT will be louder. But, neither of these changes are enough to be a problem with hearing your radio or holding a conversation while crusing. I have the Z06 cat back on my FRC with stock exhaust manifolds and stock h pipe.
Just bought a set of the Z06 Ti's for my vert a few weeks ago but haven't put them on yet. Most everything I've read about them has been positive, but that they aren't much louder than the other stock exhausts.
Tino,
I just purchased ZO6 Exhaust today. I have heard what they sound like on a non ZO6. Sound is a little deeper, not much difference than stock, a little lighter than stock and a little louder when revved.
Tino, try and buy the Z06 mid section also $100-200. It only has 2 cats and no pre-cats. Direct bolt up. I did this with a Corsa x-pipe and the sound is nice. Sounds great at WOT, but nice and smooth when cruising with no resonance.

Just an impression from a Z06 owner. I had a 98 Cobra with a full Bassani setup on it before I bought my Z, so I love the louder and deeper note you get from these aftermarket setups. I would love just a little more volume from the Z06 exhaust, but I also must say that I am very impressed with the stock sound this exhause emits. It is especially enjoyable at WOT, but is also nice in normal driving. The one downside of the aftermarket systems is the extra cabin noise. It does make it a challenge when talking on the phone or listening to the radio. I have been considering a new catback myself, but can't decide if I want to give up on the extra cabin noise issue. I love both...so it is a real quandry.
I do think you would like the sound you get from the Z06 setup if you are looking for something that is in between your current setup and the other catback options.
I had Z06 Ti's on my 03 Anniversary Coupe and although better than stock, they sound a whole lot better on a Z06. My friends Z06 always sounded better so I ended up with Magnaflows, which sounded so much better than my friends Z06, he ended up with GHL's.
The bottom line is that Z06 Ti's sound best on a Z06.
Wow, this is why this is the best site on the web! It sounds like the Ti's should be no problem with my vert, I was concerned that it might be too loud when cruising with the top down. I have been offered the system for $550 cdn which is approx $445 U.S. He is taking them off this week so I should have them by the weekend.
Hi Tino, I recently changed my stock exhaust to a used Z06 along with a Bassani x-pipe on my 01 vert and I LOVE IT. At idle it's just a little bit louder than stock, if at all noticeable, but when you step on the gas (not even at WOT) it's a much more aggressive tone but by no means annoying. Plus there is absolutely zero resonance on the highway and of course the tips look 100% better.
I've read from other forum members if you don't replace the stock h-pipes there's a bit of deceleration 'popping', I'm not crazy about that so I changed it to the Bassani but some people like that sound it so it's up to you.
All in all, I highly recommend doing it. If you're unsatisfied you can always resell it, Z06 ti's always seem to be in high demand!

Lighter in weight, deeper sound than the other C5 exhaust. Those that have put them on the car seem to like them. Probably a little better flowing exhaust too. Go for it.

In this case you will like them. I wanted a bit more "rumble", but not too loud, and the Ti's are perfect. For me they sound great at WOT, look better, are lighter, and you can't beat the price

Thank you,

I've had mine for about a year, on a stock vette. Love it.
$445 US is a little on the steep side. Take your time, you'll find them for $350-400

You are correct that it is a little steep but what makes it worth while is that it is just 20 min from my home in Ontario, so no shipping from the U.S and the duty and G.S.T tax. I figure even at $350 U.S with shipping tax and duty, I would be looking at about $600 Canadian. I appreciate the cautionary advise.
