I just sold my 89 Vette and got a 98 Convertable. Great car, only had it a few days and still getting use to it. The oil pressure reading is pegged at 80 all the time. The guy I got it from says it just started doing that and gave me a new oil sender part. Is this common or could it be something else -

Yup, really common problem. The way to tell if sensor is bad is to turn key on and DON'T start engine. If you get a pressure reading, the sensor is bad. Its relatively easy to replace. Do a search in the forum for replacement details.

My 98 had the same problem about six months ago. I took it to my mechanic and had the oil sending unit replaced.
