Default Hot water temp...or not

Today I installed the clb and cags defeat in my 2004 Z06. Went out tonight and noticed on the drive home the water temp pegged at 260 degrees. Do not know if it slowly went up to that temp or quickly, noticed it after the fact. DIC showed nothing to warn of high water temp. Ran through the gages and water temp was marked with 3 xxx's. Played with the igniton switch a bit and the gage then showed 205 degrees with the DIC agreeing. Opened the hood and the fans were running normal and it did not seem to me to be running any hotter than normal.

Has anyone installed the clb and/or cags defeat and had this happen? I feel it has to be related since it gave no trouble before.

I will play with it tomorrow and if it still does it, will try removing them one at a time to see if it cures it.

I also posted this in tech so hopefully will get more responses

I will look for a pinched wire in the morning also. I believe it may have something to do with CLB since it is in the same area as the water temp gage.
I was also curious if the DIC gets its info from the gage or reads coolant temps froma different source. Seems to me now that it gets its reading from the gage itself.

I've got both the CLB and CAGS eliminator on mine and never run into this problem. Maybe a loose connection - not sure if that would do it or not. Hope you find out the source of the problem.

I believe the DIC receives the temp info from the same source as the gage; the Powetrain Control Module. The PCM receives the coolant temp readings from a coolant temp sensor.

Thanks, I am checking for a pinched wire now around the lower dash area.

I removed the CLB this morning and now the car works perfectly. Still not convinced the CLB was the problem.

I am going on vacation in a few weeks and will try reinstalling the bypass and see what happens.
