I lost my DIC display as well as the audio & comfort controls displays for a short period of time today while driving. Stopped, shut the car off, & when I started it again everything was fine. Anyone experience this one?
Hi, yes: last year on my 00 coupe some of the same things happened to me : Audio & A/C display controls went blank, still worked fine but I had to guess at Temperature etc...Brought it to Dealer (NOT my favorite place, but was under warranty etc...) after 4 days , they replaced some major electronic control part ( Can't think of exact name of it but I could look it up for u on Monday at the office if u want..., where I keep all this !).
I sold the car to an Alabama Football fan from this forum !!! last August and bought another yell. coupe, a 2003...LOVE it !
Could be one of any number of things causing you problem - bad ground, weak or bad battery, bad IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) module, etc. Forum member Bill Curlee is quite knowledgeable when it comes to the C5 electrical systems. Hopefully, he will see your post here shortly. If not, you might post this over in C5 Tech where he hangs out a lot. He should be able to provide you with some places to look and check. Good luck!
Check for History Codes in the DIC, if you have a few "U-Codes", then check the STAR connector near the BCM (there are two). One thing these items have in common is a feed via the serial data link. If this connection is lose, it will also cut off serial data to most of the onboard computers, causing them to set U-codes (loss of communications between controllers).
Just an idea, and easy to check.
