Why are threads locked or moved?

Why are threads locked or moved?
Can someone advise why threads get locked or moved? I posted two threads regarding pics in signatures and had several helpful responses. Later one post was locked and one was moved. Why? Thanks.

Threads get locked (or sometimes moved) mainly for one of two reasons: 1) they do not comply with with the Forum Guidelines and Rules or 2) they have been posted in the wrong forum based on the topic of discussion. The Forums Index lists all the forums here and shows the topics that are appropriate for discussion and posting in each of the forums.
Tip: An easy way to find the Forum Index is to click on the red C5 convertible at the very top left of this page.

They probably got moved or locked because, just like this one, they are in the wrong section.
It's not unique to this forum. In fact, the whole point of having bulletin boards with different areas is to keep things on topic. That's why, for example. there's a help section where you go for help and why you find classified ads in the classified ads section of a newspaper.
