Hi--
I would appreciate hearing from anyone (Z06 or C5 with 6 speed) who just had the replacement rings installed in last two weeks, or are on the dealer's waiting list. My dealer in Calif is telling me they won't be available until September.
Thanks,

Got the same story from my dealer on availability date... September. Failed the consumption test and they've agreed to do the work. I'll just keep checking the oil every fill up... Not sure I want to be the first one of these my dealer does.

Thanks for the response. Let me know when your dealer calls to tell you the rings have arrived & I will do likewise. Feel free to e-mail me at: francesnbob@aol.com & I'll tell you what my dealer said about the engine tech.
Good Luck!

My Z06 also failed the consumption test. What I have been told is that there will be a fix avalible in late August or September. The reason is that GM can't decide how they want to do the ring replacement. Dealers that are doing the fix now are replacing only the rings. My dealer said that when the fix is released it will be a complete piston replacement.

Has anyone talked to their dealer about getting their regular warranty extended after the replacement rings are installed?
Thanks,

Re: (qwikz06)
My dealer in Redwood City California said the replacement rings won't be availabile until September. He also said there was a new dip stick available and ordered that for me. Not that a new dip stick would help with the oil consumption problem, but he said it makes reading the oil level easier.
