Default stat swap/cold stat/pcv mod

Hey guys,

I have a low temp stat but I am running at 163 degrees coolant and 196 on oil....I think it's too cold since it is not even winter yet! Anyone have directions on swapping out the thermostat? Procedure, how much coolant do you lose/will need, etc. I am thinking of swapping myself and see what the temps will run before having fan temps adjusted...anyone else been through this?

Also my pcv mod is picking up a lot more oil now...can it be related? I went from a teaspoon to about 1/4 way full...WTF???

thanks in advance buds!

163 coolant seems too low, but oil temp looks fine to me....ideal temp for coolant would be 180 to 190 while oil temp should be, idealy, 200 to 210....i have 170 thermostat with fan setting on 170 & 172....seems working good to me....i assume NJ is a lot colder than Cali, but still....you should lose a pint or two when swapping a thermostat....just tried past weekend....for the pcv, sorry i can't help....
