Are the TTS headers that much better? I see that the TPIS headers say that they fit the Z06, the TTS only talks about fitting an LS1. Does the TTS fit the LS6 as well?
It looks like the TTS give about the same performance but might be easer to install going in through the bottom. The TPIS page says it takes 4-6 hours to install but there is no time mentioned on the TTS page. Has anyone installed these on their Z06?
Also - anyone installed the SLP Loud Mouth exhaust system on their Z06? I've been looking at the Borla XR-1 setup but it looks a lot like the SLP unit. The SLP is $300 less than the Borla. Here's the SLP -
I also would like to know. I have spoken to Jim at Halltec and he told me that the TTS' are better. I only see the difference in the price. He said that the TTS' have the 02 sensors also.
Joe, I have no idea why the prices are different. What I DO know is that Carl V. has the TPIS on his 'vert, and is putting them on his '02 Z06 (which I understand he's going to make into a monster) when it comes in -- and Carl has enough time, wherewithall, and smarts to research these things to death (and often comes up with the "correct" results). Now, I don't take his word blindly, but I DID just hear and see a friend of his' Z06 with the TPIS's installed (by a shop that Carl also recommended), and WOW! They look and sound great (and I understand that the throttle response is amazing, too).
Now, is that to say that the TPIS's are "better?" I don't know. But if the HP claims are the same (they are), and since I understand that the TPIS's have no fitment issues, and they cost less, then I have to (and did -- just waiting for them to come in) go with the TPIS.
I've been trying to get to the bottom of this issue, too. I've settled on the TPIS.
Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg, MD has done installations on Z06s with both TPIS and TTS. He clearly prefers (and recommends the TPIS).
Electron blue Z06 - NCM delivery scheduled for August 21st. TPIS long tube headers and a B&MRipper will be installed the same day by Total Engine Airflow in Bowling Green.
