You were the one worried about driving a "woman's car", not me, and obviously you're upset. I did not mean to trivialize your problem. Anyone familiar with advice columns knows that it can be very embarrassing in a restroom to be mistaken for the other gender. Those of you who are male and worried about being seen in a "woman's" car should know that shaving your head and growing a mustache have been named as the best way to eliminate the times when you are mis-identified.
I compared the two cars and decided to buy the Z06. My neighbor wanted $10,000 over msrp and the best counteroffer I received was $2000 less than msrp. So I went to dealer a bit further away and they met my offer of $5000 less. I suspect that for most people the thought of a car looking masculine or feminine would never enter their minds, and fewer still would admit it if it did. If you read the C6 threads you will see that many buyers are adding some serious modifications and if you race the C6s often enough you will face, in your thinking, the ignominy of being beaten by a woman's car. If you stopped to think for a bit you might come to see the C6 buyer as a good person who shares your passion for a Corvette. They just preferred the C6 and, and whether male or female, do not deserved to be insulted by you.
And just because someone thinks that it is silly to classify a C6 as a woman's car does not mean that they purchased one. I see no consensus on this thread or any other to support your comments. As I did initially I would guess that many saw no reason to respond to your nonsense, but then I thought maybe you were legitimately worried about being mistaken for a woman. If so, and it aids your insecurities, call the C6 a woman's car if you want.
I have driven a Corvette on a daily basis for over ten years and when one passed me or pulled up beside me I spoke or waved, but never raced. I will add that in all of that time there were no clowns who hit the accelerator either, just a good bunch of people enjoying the thrill of driving the most recognizable car in this country. Of course, if drivers of other cars are not respectful they usually get a lesson in the performance capabilities of the vette. Watching a Corvette disappear down the road ahead is a thrill every person should enjoy at least once in their lifetime.

uhh... I couldn't have said it better myself.

I don't understand how GM could make a new model that is comparable to an older "special version", aka Z06, for 8 or $9k less money, (excluding the current deep discounts and incentives) and people resort to petty name calling because of their own insecurities. It's true that the Z06 is still a better car in SOME respects. Certainly a better bargain with the incentives to get rid of the old obsolete models. The fact remains that the C6 is a leap in performance for those who did not own Z06 models, because the C6 is clearly a comparable car for a lot less money but it was NOT intended to be a Z06!.

The Z06 version, which will be comparable to the original prices on the Z06 will surely make them feel bad about their purchases and they will still find reasons to justify what they own instead of going out and forking over the cash it will take to get the new model. It's human nature to have "buyers remorse". It's just human nature to resist change. What's really funny is that most of these people passing the insults will eventually own a C6. Even though they vehemently deny it at this point. They should just be happy that their C5 Z06's are still competetive to the current models and the prices are at historic bargains but be prepared to get smoked when the new Z comes out next year or whenever. Be happy for your fellow Vette owners, whether they have a C6 or a C3.

Come to think of it, why aren't these same people bashing C1-C4's? They are clearly inferior to the C5 in almost every respect. I guess it's because they are no longer threatened by them. I'm sure there are some C4 owners who still think the C5 is ugly and doesn't perform as well.

Let's stop this b.s.

For my record,

I did own a 2003 Z06, Black.

Now I own a C6 w/z51 option, Black.

The new C6 w/z51 is about 90% raw of the Z06.
The 10% rawness it lost, jumps forward on most other fronts.
I like the new short-throw stick, easy clutch. Tinted Targa roof. Sound proofing, new toys like, nav xmradio/etc.

The C6 definitely is a fantastic car. It's a trade-off as to which you get, IMO, and a win-win situation for the buyer. I decided on the 2004 Z06, but I can understand the attraction of the C6.

Bottom line, all vettes are great. Some day I may like the C6 but right now I am in love with my 04 Z06. When the new Z06 comes out, I will take a look and if I like what I see, I will buy one, but will wait for the 3rd year of production. I never buy anything the first 2 years of production.

Sour grapes story if I've ever heard one.

That's interesting, because the C5 has the "rounder softer look" while the C6 has sharper edges and angles. So "sharper" means "softer?"

I know. It's a little hard to make sense of. I thought all Corvette owners were brothers and sisters under the skin. But I am hoping a DNA analysis will show that those who think the C6 is a woman's car are on the very lowest branches of the family tree.

Keeping the C5 Z06 over the C6 Z51 coupe is a no brainer for me.

Nice pissing contest going on here guys. Let's admit it - we love our C5 Z's, but the new C6's are wonderful vehicles. I hope to own a C6 Z someday, but as others have already said, I'm deeply infatuated with my current Z.
