Default c5 or z

hello I am thinking about purchasing either a used c5 or z06....I can spend like 30k so what year c5 and z I can get and what milage....

also I think between c5 and z there would be like 4k difference? should I buy a c5 and use the 4k to mod it and make it much faster then z or just buy a z and be happy with it....also if I mod it I will lose warranty and I don't really want that...but I don't know hehe I always want my car to be faster..so any help will be really appreciated

the warranty is 3 years/36k miles which ever comes first is this correct

David

There's more to the Z than just more hp....

You sacrifice a removable top, but you get a car that's a pure race car, top to bottom. Well, a pure race car with a CD player and air conditioning.

I just bought a red '01 Z06 and was kinda torn between that and a yellow '02 C5. I'm glad I settled on Z06, I like the black ground effects on the Z's.

Check this page out for all the differences between the Z and the Coupe:
http://www.z06vette.com/02.php
I drove both a Coupe and a Z, before buying my Z. I was trading in my 93 Coupe. After a short drive in each, I chose the Z. I bought mine in July 2004. It is a 2001, had 13,900 miles on it. I got a GM extended warranty (24 mo./50,000 miles) with it. It came to a total of $ 33,000 - $ 5,000 for my 93 (had 167,000 miles on it, which hurt my trade in).
Drive both and you will pick the Z if you want power!

In february I bought a nice 01 Pewter Coupe. I didnt know a whole lot about the C5. It was my first Chevrolet. Great car........Nice to take off the top this summer. Fairly Powerfull......Then my buddy, (thanks Alan) took me for a ride in his 04 QS Z06......................I promply turned around and traded mine in on an 02 Torch Red Z06 with only 8k on the clock. Totally different animal. Much Much more race ready, power, gearing, handling, aggressive look, etc........I would never go back, but to each his own......

Default Buy the Z06

There is more to a Z06 than horsepower. The Z is a MAN'S car!! Having driven several vettes I was so impressed with the Z that I bought it on the spot. To me the difference is daylight and dark. I have yet felt NO need to mod. my 03 because it will do anything I WANT to do on the roadway. My opinion buy an 02 or up Z06 and never look back!

It depends on your taste for modding. If you want a killer DE car out of the box the Z06 is your car. If you plan on modding then get a cheap coupe and go crazy. A '97 coupe with H/C, coil-overs, T1 sway bars, and a big brake kit will stomp a Z06 and you can take the top off. I like to mod

I was in the same situation as you earlier this year. I went with the C5 because I wanted the targa top. I bought a C5 with the Z51 suspension and it handles awesome. You can always make the C5 as fast as the Z06 so if you want the top to come off, get the C5. If you dont care about that, get the Z06 and rock on.
