corvette scavenger hunt
I am planning a scavenger hunt for our local corvette club and
was wondering if any others have ever attended such of a event?
If so please list any unique or unusal items to look for.
We are trying to keep it generic so the items to be found could be
located in any small community or town.
Any thoughts appreciated

Scavenger hunts are a blast!!
The last one I did (many years ago) was a Travel theme. We had I think 6 groups (teams) of 4-6 people per team. Each team had a list of about 50 items to obtain and/or get a pic of, all worth various points, ranging from easy stuff like a Travel section of a newspaper, exotic drink umbrellas, or having a pic taken of your team's car on a lift, to more difficult things like getting your pic taken in an airplane cockpit (Every team was armed with polaroid instant cameras and film). There was a 3 hr time limit, and all groups had to be back to the start location at the same finish time, or points would be taken off per minute late.
In this case, many of the big point items required finding an airport, and the major airport was easily 40 mins across town, and after a couple hours or so of gathering the routine stuff that could be obtained local, it was hilarious to see all the groups ending up at the airport at about the same time, running and scrambling around, and everyone basically getting back in the cars and sprinting back across town 30 miles or so in the final minutes to beat the deadline. Needless to say, traffic laws were of little concern.
In this particular hunt, many people involved (like myself) didn't know the others, so the groups were hand picked to purposely mix the people up....ie: if you brought your wife, she'd be on another team with people she didn't know. I didn't like that aspect at first, but in the end, it was a great and fun way to meet new people and get to know them in a very casual, yet competitive setting.
For a Corvette scavenger hunt, teams of 2 would work, but it's more fun with a carload of people all constantly thinking and discussing how to obtain such and such an item...but if equipped with radios, I suppose it could work with multiple cars on the same team. The main thing is the team all needs to be in constant contact and be thinking alike, and you definitely need at least one woman per team, as they can sweet-talk their way into obtaining many unthinkable items. .
Think of a general theme, and you'll easily be able to compile a list of related items. Arming people with cameras is the best and allows for a lot of fun, and don't forget to award bonus points for style.

Thanks for the excellent report. That sounds like a great time. I love the ideal of a camera and getting some interesting shots.
I was thinking of a vette in front of a farm tractor, with the driver sitting on the tractor.
My best item so far for the hunt:
"A Current Speeding Ticket" same year
This will be a spring event so anyone with more wild ideals, keep em coming.

Sounds like a blast. Great way to meet people and have a good time searching for the items. Good luck setting one up.
