I agree with BT. But.... I can't imagine that a LEO views a high speed chase with your ex vette as a good thing. Heck, it would be much easier for the LEO just to stay in the Dunkin Donut and continue his break.

Just kidding, ya gotta love the LEO's.

Club is worthless, I can defeat a club in less than two minutes with a hack saw. Just cut out one small part of the steering wheel, where one side of the club clamps over. Remove this part of the wheel, and the club, throw it in the street and drive away.

I use a remote pager to monitor what is happening on the car.
It saved my previous car from being towed away at a 15 minute parking spot.

A well hidden kill switch is the single most cost effective thing you can do. Anything short of a wrecker and it's not going anywhere!

when i had a very expensive car stereo i purchased the top of the line car alarm with a deep cycle battery and an external horn!!! the stereo still got stolen!!!! so my advise which if you think about it makes sense....dont invest any of your own money as long as you have full coverage insurance...if someone needs to invest in this it should be the insurance company..when you think about it insurance is a the best deterrant!!!! gauranteed to get your money!!!

The item you need is the UNBREAKABLE AUTOLOCK X

I use it everytime I park the car. The only problem with it is that you cannot see it from outside the car. I throw a CLUB on the steering wheel for a visual deterent only, Clubs are easily defeated.

I am in the stolen car recovery business and my experience is this. Theives will steal the easy target car first...thats the one with the club laying in the backseat wish I had a dollar for everytime I saw that or heard a victim say. "Well, I have a club but I did not put it on".

Then you see a few where they cut the steering wheel to remove the Club...about 1 minute or less to do with a hacksaw.

Alarms are a joke...everyone ignores them and good theives can disable them in 30 seconds...seen it done many times. But I do like the paging alarms...you maybe able to make it out in time to see your car driving away....

The cut off switch is very good but wont stop the theif from damaging your car by trying everything he has time for....

The Unbreakable Autolock....I have never seen a theif steal a car with one yet...they have tried but give up early with little damage to car. I like my set up...visual to deter the casual theif and the Autolock for the serious theif. It uses a very unique key....thats all I'll say here.

Of course...If they really want your car...they will get it....flatbeds are the trick...but only for the very serious theif.

Note...I work in the county that has the distinction of having the highest frequency of car thefts in the U.S.

I have a device called a Boomerang II on my C5. It's a celluar based device that keeps track of it's position at all times. If the car moves "without authorization", a silent alarm goes to the monitoring company and they keep track of it, call the police and hopefully aprehend the cuplrets.

Peace of mind for me.

After I installed a CLB I did a search and found The DISKLOK. It is the best. See this thread:

Default The club

I was in NYC a few weeks back and was blown away by the amount of clubs "The Club" used on vehicle steering wheels. That invention does not deter anyone who wants the car. A quick 60 second sawing through the steering wheel and your out a car!
