Default X Pipe question

Hi,
I have had my Z51 2001 coupe for almost two years. When I bought it it had a Z06 exhaust (along with other goodies like the Z06 sway bar, Bilstein shocks, Vortex air cleaner etc) When I picked it up he also gave me a box that contained the stock shocks and air cleaner along with other odds and ends. Well yesterday I opened the box as I was cleaning out the garage and saw an X pipe in it. I now am assuming that I must still have the stock H pipe on my car. What is the benefit of one over the other? Any noticable effect on sound or performance?
Thanks ahead of time guys,
Bobby A

The X-Pipe will better balance the exhaust output/back pressure.

The x-pipe is successful at significantly reducing the popping sounds that are usually encountered upon decelleration.

I doubt the x-pipe itself provides any real HP increase.

Hope this helps!

Ususally the X-pipe, is placed in place of the Cat's. The X-pipe changes the sound of the whole exhaust. I love mine!

with all of this reply I quoted.
As for the other reply about the X-Pipe replacing the cats. It DOES NOT replace the cats, it replaces the "H" pipe ONLY.

I put an X-pipe on my car about a year and a half ago. I was having some problems with the car popping when I let off the gas and the resonance was loud in 6th gear from my mufflers. The X-pipe did a good job of solving both of these problems. Plus, it made a slight improvement in the exhaust note.

...hey chris...did you mistype this...

...the X-Pipe is placed beyond the cats...

in my case...I now have the hi-flow cats and new X-pipe

the X-pipe reduced some popping and perhaps resonance has been dissipated to some degree...

With Hi-flow cats and X-Pipe with B&B bullets...
...loud is mostly what I hear anyway...

I may have been wrong to say Ususally, However for my case, I went with an offroad X-pipe, which DOES replace the CATS and doesn't affect the H-pipe. What's the point of Cats in the non-emission state of FL.
