Default Chrome Plenum: Anyone know how to do it?

I have a picture I saw in a post a long time ago of an engine bay with a chrome plenum. I was wondering if anyone knows whose vette this is. Also, how do you chrome the plenum if its made of plastic? I've seen a lingenfelter intake manifold being sold in Jegs that has a chrome finish to it. I haven't seen it sold on the Lingenfelter website or on any other corvette vendor website. In Jeg's catalog, they don't give much of a description for it either. Is the only way to chrome a plenum is by getting a new intake or can you actually chrome plastic and have it last a long time?

Here's the pic and to whoever's engine bay this is, my congratulations on having such a gorgeous vette:

I've heard that you can get plastic chromed but I am not sure it would take the heat very well. So I'll lurk and see if other's know the answer. I am with you on how great the chrome intake looks.

KewlAuto-Dot-Com - I have their Chrome Plenum Cover, and it's expensive, but I daresay it's worth every cent! It is their molded plastic, that they have chromed. When you order it, don't be in a hurry. Takes about 6-8 weeks if they don't have it in stock. But again, it's also worth the wait!

That's mine! Thanks for the compliment. That pic was taken early this past spring with a stock Z06 intake that had been chrome plated. About a month after installation the plating started to lift in a couple of areas. Rather than having it replated and taking another chance with it I decided to go with the aluminum Weiand/Lingenfelter intake which I had plated. Have not had any issues at all with this setup yet.

Here's what it looks like now...

That's the same intake they are selling in Jegs. Did you get any performance increase by replacing it? Any issues with it? You have such a beautiful vette, I've kept that picture since last spring, its spectacular!!! You should be very proud of your baby!

Thanks again. I am proud of my baby!

I got my intake from Street & Performance (http://www.hotrodlane.cc/) already plated. As far as performance goes, I went from 315 RWHP to 344 RWHP after the intake and Shaner throttle body, Mezier water pump and some tuning. No issues at all so far with this setup.

I'd like to hear if you have experienced any heat soak issues?

I would love to do the same thing but heat soak is my biggest worry.

So Street & Performance Chromed the Weiand/Lingenfelter intake for you? What size throttle body did you get? Thanks so much for all your help, BTW. You still got me drooling from those pics!

S & P sells the intake either polished or chromed. Stock throttle body ported and polished by Shaner, chromed by S & P. The Kewl intake cover is an excellent piece also. My tank covers are from Kewl.

The chrome plated plenum looks great. But if you don't want to have to take the stock plenum off and put the new one on, go with the plenum cover from Kewl. Looks great and very easy to put on.

Yes, we sell the chrome cover. It is pricey.

This morning I sold the last in our next batch, due in two weeks. Our lead time is now about six weeks.

(Can't keep them in stock......... )

I have the Kewl chome cover on mine as well.

Plastic (at least certain types) can be chromed, the Kewl cover is plastic and is chrome, my plastic airbridge is also chromed.
