Today I have to jump start my car. It's the second time in 7 weeks. I call the dealer to give him advanced warning that i want a new battery. The car was purchased new in April 04. The born date is July of 03. Any way I jump the start the care (an A4) and its running kinda fast. The DIC says, "Engine Low on Power". And something about "System configurtation" or something like that. I can't make the car accelerate.. it does nothing, I still in Park. So I turn off the car.. I have to jump it again with Battery cables. This time it works fine.. no messages etc. So I drive it to the dealer where it now awaits their rapt attention Do you think the Errors were caused by a glitch or something else? thanks guys.!
Sounds like a bad battery to me! Tell them you will pay the difference to get a red top.
Even if they don't pony up with the difference to put in the red top and go it alone, a bad battery can leak acid all over vital electrical components.

I wonder if the dealer would allow me to pay the difference and add a red top? I have thought about asking, guess I'll give them a call. One of the funny things is that the engine wouldn't do any thing but run at high idle. If i pressed the gas pedal nothing happened??? very odd..Im thinking it was a software issue caused by a voltage spike or drop from either jumping the car or the super low battery.. Thanks again.
I think there is something in your owners manual that says that GM will pay for warranty claims like batteries when it is an emergency. So wait until a Sunday buy the red op go to the dealer and tell them your battery was dead aned you just had to move the car. The worst that will happen is they too bad, the best you get a free red top

I can testify this is the truth! I bought a redtop on a Sat afternoon after the service dept closed. Took the receipt into the Service Mgr and got a check about a month later.
