Default Removing Armorall

My dad just picked up a low mileage 2002 coupe yesterday. The fine folks in the detail department applied Armorall to everything. I HATE this stuff. Anyone have experience removing it?

Thanks in advance.

Where is the Armor All at (inside, outside, engine bay)? For the outside, some soap and water will do the trick. For the inside, a good interior cleaner sprayed on a rag should get it off. I have used some very mild dishwashing soap in lukewarm water to clean my dash/door panels before and it works very well. Once you go over the dash with the soapy rag, then go back over it with a non-soapy one and then with a dry one. Good luck.

It will be absorbed into the materials pretty quickly. However, if they did the dash with it or any other shine it should be removed since the reflection of the dash in the windshieod on bright days can make it hard to drive. GM tells you in the owners manual not to put any dressings on the dash for this reason.

I have used Dupont's DX330 on a rag to clean things and to remove Armorall from unwanted places. This is a wax and grease cleaner that is used to prep car finishes before they are painted. It is a little harsh and if overdone it can dry out the plastic but it does work well when used correctly. The DX330's advantage over other prep sols is that it takes a minute or so to dry and doesn't dry immediately like the others. Make sure you try it on some materials similar to the dash before putting it on the dash. That way you can see if you want to continue on to the dash.

There was only one product on the market that could be put on the dash but as far as I know it has been discontinued. That was Armorall's Low Gloss Protectant. I have one bottle of it left and use it sparingly so it will last.

I have used soap (Dawn dishwashing) and water on a few vehicles interior (including one of my Vettes when someone used Armor All on the dash).

This is the most efficient, and cost effective) method I have found.

Good luck.

I would explode If I caught somebody putting that in my car. Thats one reason why I always buy brand new and pass on the free detail from the Dealer!

Unfortunately, the car was already detailed even before he bought it.

I have used Murphy Oil Soap to remove the Armor All. I use the Murphy Oil Soap for wiping down all the interior. It cleans, plus leaves a nice natural look.

Simple Green works wonders on all your interior. I clean my cars with Simple Green then use a light dressing....usually NXT.

How do you all clean the interior... you know the dash, seats and console on a regular basis?

I use murphys oil soap to clean the whole interior including the leather seats. It seems to leave a little bit of a shine and doesn't dry it out.

Stoner's Invisible Glass knocks down the shine nicely (which is a good thing, because it sucks for its intended purpose as a glass cleaner).
